What 2023 Looks Like for the Nissan Frontier
January 13 2023 - admin@wikimotive.com
The Nissan Frontier is back for 2023, bringing with it all the fun and capability that a midsize pickup can offer. The 2023 model will kick off the second year of the Frontier’s third generation, and it receives some small upgrades despite being completely overhauled in 2022. Everything that makes the Frontier great stayed, like its powerful capability and luxurious interior. With four trim options, the Frontier can be customized to fit different checklists and budgets. New packages now enter the mix for those who want something different. What do you want your 2023 to look like? For the newest Frontier, it can be summed up accordingly: powerful, adventurous, flexible, luxurious, and fresh. Finding a Nissan Frontier for sale means finding all of this and more.
Powerful: A Punchy Engine
The powertrain is what makes the pickup truck. Powerful and torquey, the Frontier’s engine has the makings of greatness. Its one and only engine is a 3.8 liter V6 that generates 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It provides the power needed for the Frontier to tow up to 6,720 lbs and has a maximum payload capacity of 1,610 lbs. Despite all of this, the 2023 Frontier can get 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway. To make towing easier and safer, the Frontier comes equipped with smart technology like Trailer Sway Control and Tow/Haul Mode. Trailer Sway Control helps keep whatever you’re towing in line by applying brakes to specific wheels as needed. The system will also alert the driver to the swaying trailer so they know to stop accelerating until everything is back under control. When Tow/Haul Mode is engaged, the vehicle will automatically adjust when it shifts gears to optimize performance under towing conditions. It also includes downhill speed control, which enables the Frontier to automatically downshift when going downhill for greater control.
Adventurous: Off-Roading Capability
Pickups make for the perfect off-roading companion. They’re capable drivers on unpaved surfaces since the attributes that give them the ability to tow and haul things are the very same that provide good grip on shifting surfaces. They also tend to have generous ground clearance, plus the bed creates plenty of room for all the gear an adventurer may need. Nissan played to these strengths when developing the Frontier, making it perfect for heading wherever the wind takes you. Extra care was given to the frame and suspension, giving them the strength they need to take a hit or two. The Frontier also has four-wheel drive and Active Brake Limited Slip, so power is distributed amongst the wheels to maximize grip. It has other features specifically designed to maximize control off-road, like, for example, hill descent control. Off-roading tends to have a lot of literal ups and downs. Hill descent control keeps the Frontier’s speed consistent when going downhill to prevent unwanted, unsafe acceleration.Flexible: The Trim Options
The 2023 Frontier is available in four different trim options. All Frontiers are built with the same engine, so the main differences between trims will be the quality of the interior. Here’s a breakdown of these trim options and their offerings:Frontier S
The base model is the Frontier S. It has all the power the pickup can bring but keeps the price affordable with an interior that is simple yet sophisticated. It has an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen and a seven-inch driver information display. It also comes standard with safety features like pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking.Frontier SV
Next is the Frontier SV. Its exterior gets elevated with body-matching side mirrors and front and rear bumpers. The mirrors are power-adjustable, as well. The wheels are sized up to 17 inches and have six-split spoke aluminum for a bit more flair than the S model. Inside, premium cloth is added, and the driver seat has six-way power control and two-way lumbar adjustment. The SV is also eligible for more packages than the S, so even more features can be tacked on through the Technology, Midnight Edition, SV Convenience, and SV Premium packages.Frontier PRO-X
The Frontier gets even more capable when in PRO-X form. When looking at this trim on the lot of your local Nissan dealership is off-roading focused with the addition of upgraded Bilstein performance shock absorbers. It also adds LED headlights, running lights, and fog lights. To give the PRO-X a distinctive style, the 17-inch wheels get a dark aluminum finish, and exclusive badging can be found inside and around the pickup’s exterior. The interior gets upgrades as well in the form of a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment display and dual-zone climate control.Frontier PRO-4X
The top trim for the Frontier is the PRO-4X. Like the PRO-X, it gets the Bilstein shocks for improved off-roading performance, but it also gets an electronic locking rear differential. To protect the PRO-4X while traversing bumpy landscapes, Nissan included a front skid plate and underbody skid plates that guard the transfer case, fuel tank, and oil pan. Inside, the pickup gets Lava Red accents and trim-exclusive “PRO-4X’ embroidered seats.
