Should you be shopping around for a luxury full-size SUV with seating for up to eight passengers, a powerful engine, and an upscale interior, then you’ve probably considered a Nissan Armada for sale. This stunning full-size SUV is a highly popular family vehicle. With the option for either a bench seat or captain’s chairs in the second row, it provides a couple of seating options that could be right for your crew. Its spacious interior and loads of infotainment should keep the whole family happy on long drives, and its trunk space is ready to hold everyone’s gear, luggage, snacks, and more.

If you are a busy parent, your hands are probably often full, literally and figuratively. Walking away from the vehicle, carrying one kid’s soccer gear and another’s backpack, only to realize you forgot to lock the car, can be a real hassle. The 2023 Nissan Armada has a smart key fob that lets you do many tasks, right on it, with the push of a button (or two), and it lets you activate certain things remotely. When you’re attending to toddlers and tantrums, little features like this make a big difference. Here are some of the cool things you can do with the intelligent key fob of the Nissan Armada.

Unlock Your Car Without Touching the Fob

Sometimes, you just can’t reach into your pocket or bag to grab your key fob; you’re holding groceries and a baby, and you’re on the phone. All you want is to load everyone and everything into the car so that you can be free. With the smart key fob, so long as it’s on you and you’re near the vehicle, you can unlock the car without actually touching your key fob. On each car door, you’ll notice a very small switch on the main part of the handles. So long as you are within 2.5 ft of one of the switches and the key fob is on you, you can just tap that switch, and the door will unlock. So, as a busy parent, that means you can tap it with whatever you have available, whether that’s a knuckle, an elbow, or your baby’s foot.

If you push that switch once more within a minute of the first time you push it, all of the doors will unlock. This might seem like a minor feature, but when you have several kids screaming, “Unlock the doors! It’s cold!” you know every second counts before they have a meltdown. Now, you don’t need to wait until you’ve opened one door, put your stuff down, and hit the unlock button from inside. When you’re ready to lock all the doors on the vehicle, you only need to push the switch on any of the car doors; just make sure they’re all closed. Again, if your hands are full, you forgot to lock the car, and you already stashed your fob deep into your bag, you know what a perk this function is.

Pre-unlock From a Distance

While you need to be within 2.5 ft of a door handle switch to use those, you can be up to 33 ft away from the vehicle to unlock it from a distance, using your fob. Once you’re within 33 ft of the vehicle, if the fob is in your hand, just press the unlock button. This will unlock the driver’s door. Press it again immediately to unlock all doors. So, when your kids race to the car to call shotgun and start yelling at you to unlock it, you can oblige from a distance.

Never Forget Your Fob

Your fob will not let you forget it in the vehicle, which is great because leaving it in there could mean somebody steals your SUV. If you leave the fob in your Nissan SUV, upon exiting, the doors will automatically unlock (so you can get back in without your fob), and a warning chime will sound, notifying you that you left the fob behind. If you have several fobs, aren’t worried about a lock-out, and find this feature annoying, the good news is that you can deactivate it. Simply press and hold the unlock and lock buttons on your fob, at the same time, for more than two seconds; this will deactivate the feature. The hazard lights will flash three times to let you know you have successfully deactivated it. If you want to reactivate it, press and hold the panic button for more than two seconds.

Don’t Worry; There’s Still a Regular Key

Key fobs are fun and futuristic, but if you’re worried about the day that robots take over, or just the day your fob’s battery dies, Nissan has you covered. Hidden inside the fob is a mechanical key you just slide out, so you’ll still be able to get into and start your car even if you accidentally drop your fob in your coffee when your kid bumps into you.

Use Up to Four Fobs

Here’s another great thing about the intelligent key fob: you can actually pair up to four with one Armada; just make sure to register each one with your Nissan dealership so every driver’s license-holding member of your family can use these convenient functions. That means if your partner beats you to the vehicle and they have a fob on them, they can unlock the doors for the children who are eager to hop in and start streaming on their iPads.

Find Your Armada

We get it; sometimes, you’re distracted when you park. Somebody was demanding an ice scream stop while someone else was complaining their sibling stole their phone. It can be a lot. Now you don’t remember if you parked in P6 or P7, or the third row or fourth row. No worries. Just hit the panic button on your intelligent key fob. It will automatically activate the security alarm of your Armada, so you can let that sound lead you back to your vehicle.

Convenience at the Touch of a Button

It’s those little things that make a big difference in the lives of busy parents. When you haul a full-size SUV of kids around all day, you know how demanding children can be and how quickly a polite request can turn into an all-out tantrum. The convenient features of the intelligent key fob allow you to do things like lock and unlock the vehicle not just from a distance but even without touching the actual fob. When you’ve got one child’s lunch box in one hand and a bottle in the other, you know what a big deal that is. If you want to register four of these fobs for your 2023 Armada, we’d be glad to do it for you.
