If you’re interested in a new SUV, then Nissan has a plethora of options available for every type of driver. From sporty subcompact models to large luxurious 8-seaters, Nissan SUVs run the gamut when it comes to size, style, and budget, so there’s something for everyone. If all of those choices seem overwhelming, don’t panic. We’re going to take a deeper look at Nissan’s 2022 SUV lineup and walk you through what each model brings to the table, and for those in the market for a Nissan SUV, we here at Ryan Nissan welcome you to visit us in person and see the full Nissan SUV lineup up close and personal.

The 2022 Nissan Kicks

A fuel-efficient subcompact SUV, the Kicks is an affordable option that’s great for commuting or running errands around town. Its nimble handling and responsive steering make it a breeze to drive, and while its smaller size makes it easy to park and store, the interior still feels spacious, with a back seat that can comfortably fit 3 adults with plenty of room for cargo. This impressive layout hasn’t gone unnoticed: the Kicks was featured on Autotrader’s list of the 10 Best Car Interiors Under $50,000 for 2021. Since the Kicks received a significant update for the 2021 model year, not much has changed for the 2022 version; however, it remains a great option for those looking for a small yet powerful SUV.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue

Rugged and built for adventure, the Rogue is a great option whether you’re looking to explore the country or want to be able to get around town during a snowy winter day. For enhanced traction when you need it, we’d opt for Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD), an available option for all Rogue trim levels. The system keeps the car in front-wheel drive mode on surfaces like smooth, dry highways, increasing fuel efficiency, but when a little extra grip is called for, the AWD automatically kicks in and delivers power to both the front and rear axles.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive also allows you to manually switch between five driving modes:

  • Sport Mode provides a sharper throttle for optimum performance.
  • Off-Road Mode is designed to handle rough terrains like gravel, sand, or dirt.
  • Snow Mode helps you stay in control on snowy or icy roads.
  • Eco Mode prioritizes fuel efficiency to save you trips to the pump.
  • Auto Mode balances these different factors automatically.

While the 2022 model looks pretty similar to the 2021 Rogue on the surface, there has been a significant update under the hood. The old 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine has been replaced with a smaller yet more powerful turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, increasing the horsepower from 181 to 201. The transmission has also been revised to improve the vehicle’s fuel economy and enhance acceleration.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave this crossover the coveted title of Top Safety Pick+ for 2022, so you can drive confidently knowing you’re behind the wheel of a reliable and safe vehicle. Even on the most basic trim level, the Rogue comes standard with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, and other useful driver assistance technologies. Higher trims get more cutting-edge features like Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, which can detect when you’re drifting out of your lane or trying to merge while another vehicle is in your blind spot and not only give you a warning but gently guide you back to safety.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport

As its name suggests, the Rogue Sport is pretty similar to the Rogue but slightly smaller and more focused on being fun to drive, offering a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It offers a smooth ride that’s perfect for cruising around town in comfort and style. If you’re carpooling or transporting the family, your passengers will be able to enjoy a spacious and well-designed cabin. On the other hand, if you’re running errands on your own or with a passenger, you can fold down the back seats and take advantage of the full cargo space. With the available Divide-N-Hide Cargo system, you can flip up a panel in the back and either use it to keep loose items from sliding around or stick a few things in the underfloor storage compartment, then flip the panel back down to keep your valuables secure and out of sight.

One of the most popular Nissan SUVs, a white 2022 Nissan Murano, is shown driving on a snow covered road.

The 2022 Nissan Murano

Where the Rogue is focused on rugged capability, the Murano is more interested in providing an air of elegance, though that doesn’t mean sacrificing performance. While front-wheel drive is standard, Intelligent AWD is available across all trim levels, and the Murano’s suspension system can absorb rough patches and potholes for a smooth, comfortable drive. The exterior design is sleek, but the cabin is where this crossover truly shines.

The most basic trim level, the S, comes standard with dual-zone automatic temperature control, reclining seats for passengers in the back row, push-button ignition, and an 8-inch touchscreen display that controls the infotainment system. Higher trim levels get goodies like adjustable ambient lighting, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, heated and cooled front seats, and leather accents throughout the interior. A new addition for 2022, the Midnight Edition Murano adds unique styling touches, including 20-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels, black accents on the bumpers, illuminated kick plates, and Midnight Edition badging.

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

As a large and rugged SUV, the Pathfinder has a wide appeal. Families can take advantage of its three rows of seating, which can fit up to seven or eight passengers depending on how it’s equipped, for everyday driving to school, work, and other activities. But those looking to explore the great outdoors can take advantage of the vehicle’s off-road capability and cargo space to take along luggage and gear in the interior, loaded onto available roof rails, or hitched up to the back and hauled using its impressive towing capacity of up to 6,000 lbs when properly equipped.

The Pathfinder has an all-new design for 2022, returning to its roots with some exterior styling cues that pay homage to the original 1986 Pathfinder, like diagonal C-pillars between the rear windows and three slots at the top of the grille. Other changes reflect the SUV’s strength and capability, like the exterior’s bolder angles, wider stance, and reduced front and rear overhangs. Larger tires add to the aesthetic while giving the 2022 model a little extra ground clearance.

The 2022 Nissan Armada

A three-row SUV with both luxury features and impressive power, the Armada is a well-rounded option for those who want both strength and refinement. All trims run on the same powertrain: a 5.6-liter V8 engine that provides up to 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque and gives the vehicle a max towing capacity of 8,500 lbs. When paired with all-wheel drive, the Armada can handle any off-road challenge. Beyond the Intelligent 4×4 system and selectable modes, you can also get Active Brake Limited Slip, which kicks in when a wheel begins to slip, automatically sending additional power to wheels with better traction, as well as Hill Start Assist to prevent you from rolling backward on inclines and plenty of ground clearance so that you can glide over uneven ground.

The cabin is quiet and comfortable, with plenty of available features and optional configurations that give you the freedom to customize it to your liking. For the middle row, you can choose between a bench seat or a pair of captain’s chairs with a storage cubby in between. A new feature for the 2022 model is a power-folding third row that lets you switch between passenger space and cargo room at the push of a button and is available on the Platinum Armada. The Platinum also comes with quilted leather-appointed seats and a Maple wood-tone trim.
